Lazaro Almeida Pacheco
My name is Laz, and I am a recent JD graduate of the University of Southern California.
I was born in Teixeira de Freitas, Brazil and raised in Kearny, New Jersey. I graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a bachelor's in Materials Science and Engineering. I also hold a master's degree in Materials from Johns Hopkins, where I specialized in biomaterials, polymer chemistry, and nanotechnology.
Before moving to LA, I was an engineer at the medical device company Becton Dickinson, where I worked on the development of a recyclable plastic to replace non-recyclable rubbers in their membrane technologies. Before that, I worked in an immunology and synthetic polypeptide lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on the development of a second-generation polypeptide therapeutic for treating multiple sclerosis.
At USC, I was a Gould Honors Scholar and the recipient of the OUTLaw Endowed Scholarship. I am currently studying for the California Bar Exam and will be beginning my legal career at Sidley Austin's Downtown Los Angeles office in the Fall of 2024. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, listening to tech podcasts, and gaming.
I'm broadly interested in antitrust, startups, and education.
